Ninety percent of all U.S. chemical manufacturing processes involve catalysts. These intricate processes involve a series of chemical bond-breaking and bond-forming steps that enable researchers to accelerate and direct critical chemical reactions that are essential for converting fossil-based resources into a wide variety of high performance fuels and value-added chemicals . Georgia Tech’s catalysis research group is focused on the design and application of new and improved catalysts to develop more efficient, economical, and environmentally-friendly methods for utilizing fossil-based resources while developing renewable fuel sources.
