He will be honored March 15 during a luncheon at the Atlanta university with the inaugural Ivan Allen Jr. Prize for Social Courage. The prize carries a $100,000 award funded by private donations. It is named after Allen, a former Atlanta mayor who fought for rights for black residents in the 1960s.
