The new program supports a strategy within OIT's five-year strategic plan to strengthen employee retention and morale efforts. Specifically:
Objective 2: Define, develop, and promote an inclusive IT culture, diversifying the OIT workforce and improving OIT’s competitive stance for employee recruiting and retention.
Strategy 1: Create and implement an employee retention strategy (with programs like OIT Awards Program) to promote employee morale and well-being.
The first awards were presented in October 2021. The categories and respective winners are:
Above & Beyond Award: One Person Per Month (nominated by supervisor; selected by committee). This individual takes “other duties as assigned” to another level on a consistent basis.
