  <title><![CDATA[Office of Information Technology Introduces Awards Program]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>The Office of Information Technology (OIT) has&nbsp;introduced an awards program to acknowledge, recognize, and reward the effort, accomplishments, and contributions of employees and teams who reflect Georgia Tech&rsquo;s and OIT&rsquo;s values, mission, and goals on a regular basis.</p>

<p>The new program supports a strategy within&nbsp;OIT&#39;s five-year strategic plan to strengthen employee retention and morale efforts. Specifically:</p>

<ul>
	<li>Lead by Example, Goal 3: Create both a diverse and inclusive workforce and culture while hiring, developing, and retaining the best IT talent.</li>
	<li>
	<p>Objective 2: Define, develop, and promote an inclusive IT culture, diversifying the OIT workforce and improving OIT&rsquo;s competitive stance for employee recruiting and retention.</p>
	</li>
	<li>
	<p>Strategy 1: Create and implement an employee retention strategy (with programs like OIT Awards Program) to promote employee morale and well-being.</p>
	</li>
</ul>

<p>The first awards were presented in October 2021. The categories and respective winners are:</p>

<p><strong>Above &amp; Beyond Award:&nbsp;</strong>One Person Per Month (nominated by supervisor; selected by committee). This individual takes &ldquo;other duties as assigned&rdquo; to another level on a consistent basis.</p>

<p><strong>Collaboration &amp; Engagement Award:&nbsp;</strong>One Person or Team Per Month (nominated by any colleague; selected by committee). This individual or team serves as a strong catalyst for teamwork and cross-functional collaboration.</p>
