Fontaine will replace Leslie Ross as the undergraduate academic advisor for public policy students.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EFontaine earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and Master of Business Administration from the University of West Georgia. She launched her academic advising career in 2013 at the University of West Georgia, where she also began teaching as an adjunct instructor before venturing out to teach Principles of Management at West Georgia Technical College.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn 2017, Fontaine continued her advising career in the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Over the years, she has created and led many initiatives; served on planning, search, and scholarship committees; and continued to sharpen her skills through various courses, workshops, and professional networks.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWe spoke with Fontaine to help the School of Public Policy community get to know her better:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3\u003EWhat was your dream job when you were a child?\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI wanted to be a doctor. I dreamed of helping people and bringing them back to good health until I realized I could not stand the sight of blood. I quickly shifted my focus to anything outside of the medical field.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3\u003EWhat led you to academic advising?\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI worked closely with advisors and students as an undergraduate employee. Through that position, I grew a love for helping others achieve their educational goals. I was able to see where my service actually influenced someone else. I know then that I wanted to work in higher education as an advisor.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3\u003EWhat excites you about joining the School of Public Policy?\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EEven during my interviews, I felt a warm presence from the SPP team, and I knew then, even more than before, that I wanted to be a part of something so great! I\u0026rsquo;m also looking forward to being a part of a smaller school, which will allow me to build a better rapport with my advisees.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3\u003ESince you\u0026rsquo;ve been at Georgia Tech for a few years, do you have a favorite spot on campus?\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMy favorite spot on campus would be the Clough rooftop garden. The rooftop is peaceful and quiet. I enjoy eating lunch there while gazing at the city view!\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3\u003EWhat do you do for fun?\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI enjoy trying new recipes through cooking and baking. My homemade pizza and cinnamon rolls are the best! I also enjoy traveling to different states and countries, as well as cycling through various trails!\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3\u003EWhat are some of your favorite things to do in and around Atlanta?\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI enjoy cycling and visiting different restaurants along the Beltline with my family and friends. The Beltline never disappoints! I also enjoy visiting different museums and attractions in the city. The Illuminarium is pretty cool!\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3\u003EWhat are you currently watching\/reading\/listening to?\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI am currently watching \u003Cem\u003EGame of Thrones\u003C\/em\u003E again to prepare for the \u003Cem\u003EHouse of the Dragon\u003C\/em\u003E release. I also enjoy watching shows like \u003Cem\u003EJeopardy!\u003C\/em\u003E,\u003Cem\u003E Family Feud\u003C\/em\u003E, and \u003Cem\u003EInsecure\u003C\/em\u003E. I am listening to songs by artists such as Alina Baraz and Tems \u0026mdash; I can go on forever about my playlists! I am also challenging myself to read at least one book each month, so stay tuned!\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3\u003EWhat\u0026rsquo;s some general advice that you have for Tech students as they continue their college careers?\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI would tell Tech students that everything is going to be alright! Utilize all of your campus resources and reach out to your advisor! We are here to assist you with your needs, or at least direct you to who can. I would also say take care of yourself. Make sure you are eating, staying hydrated, and getting an adequate amount of sleep. To paraphrase Mr. Nipsey Hussle, this is not a sprint, it is a marathon.
