The grants support projects that positively affect the WCP in the areas of mental health and well-being; support for teaching WCP courses; workload, time, and energy management; job and career search; or faculty diversity.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe first project, \u0026ldquo;Otter.Ai Automatic Transcription Services for the Composition Classroom,\u0026rdquo; will fund WCP instructors to use an Otter.ai pro subscription during the spring semester. The Podcasting and Curricular Innovation Committee \u0026mdash; which is chaired by Marion L. Brittain Fellow \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/wcprogram.lmc.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/26672cd1-8233-50f1-b1f5-b598e9062f6c\u0022\u003EEric Lewis\u003C\/a\u003E and comprised of other Brittain Fellows \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/wcprogram.lmc.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/08ec2e20-e6aa-5ea1-83cb-d180e735fec0\u0022\u003ECorey Goergen\u003C\/a\u003E, \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/wcprogram.lmc.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/cae5d81d-f63b-59cd-9924-ef8d4b09f271\u0022\u003EJosh Cohen\u003C\/a\u003E, \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/wcprogram.lmc.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/6439751f-8a77-5e9c-b283-bbdb66f6c4e7\u0022\u003ELee Hibbard\u003C\/a\u003E, and \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/wcprogram.lmc.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/ba8f9b5b-e38f-5dd6-b7ad-52d0b13442d5\u0022\u003EMolly Slavin\u003C\/a\u003E \u0026mdash; proposed the project.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;The funds from the Leadership Opportunity Grant will provide [WCP] instructors with semester-long subscriptions to Otter.ai, which they can use to generate transcripts of audio from student projects, class discussions, and\/or lectures in their classes,\u0026rdquo; the proposal notes. \u0026ldquo;Those transcripts make these materials more accessible and useable for a wide range of students.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWCP faculty interested in using\u0026nbsp;Otter.ai in the spring semester should submit a brief application detailing how they plan to use the service in their classroom to \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/wcprogram.lmc.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/andy-frazee\u0022\u003EAndy Frazee\u003C\/a\u003E, senior academic professional and director of WCP, at \u003Ca href=\u0022mailto:andy.frazee@lmc.gatech.edu\u0022\u003Eandy.frazee@lmc.gatech.edu\u003C\/a\u003E and Goergen at \u003Ca href=\u0022mailto:corey.goergen@lmc.gatech.edu\u0022\u003Ecorey.goergen@lmc.gatech.edu\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe second project is called \u0026ldquo;Advancing Antiracism and Inclusion in the Classroom and Beyond: Reading Emma Dabiri\u0026rsquo;s \u003Cem\u003EWhat White People Can Do Next: From Allyship to Coalition\u003C\/em\u003E.\u0026rdquo; It aims to create a reading group that will provide support for mental health and well-being, in addition to offering support for teaching WCP courses. Dabiri\u0026rsquo;s global and intersectional approach will help reading group members develop anti-racist pedagogical strategies for teaching students in WCP courses, in particular.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe grant will fund the purchase of 22 books for reading group participants. Members of the reading group will participate in a panel-style podcast episode for \u003Cem\u003EThe Office Hour\u003C\/em\u003E in April 2022. Group members also will be encouraged to plan and produce a deliverable that matches their own professional needs, such as an outline for a peer-reviewed article, an article for \u003Cem\u003ETECHStyle\u003C\/em\u003E, language for future syllabi, a set of lesson plans, an assignment description, or plans for a module or course unit.
