What’s the story behind the Mickey Mouse clock on the Skiles Building?

The clock went up in the fall of 1978. Two alumni, Lindsey Smith and Henry Claxton (then in their senior year), hung it as a prank, said Marilyn Somers, director of Living History. The two “owned up” to the prank after they graduated. But, the giveaway to its origin is in its brand: Smaxton — a combination of their two last names, which is visible on the clock.
