One new area of emphasis is to provide\nboth student populations with more curriculum choices. Last month, Georgia Tech\nPresident G. P. \u201cBud\u201d Peterson and Emory President James W. Wagner renewed a\nconcerted effort to foster the relationship between the two institutions through\ncross-registration.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ETech students have long had the ability to register for\nclasses at other area colleges through the Atlanta Regional Council for Higher\nEducation (ARCHE). This group is comprised of a host of area colleges and\nuniversities and allows students to take classes not offered at Tech that will\nhelp them reach their academic or career goals. Senior Vice Provost Anderson D. Smith\nhopes that with both presidents promoting cross-registration at their\nrespective institutions, it will be easier for students to identify courses of\ninterest that would not otherwise be available to them.\u0026nbsp; \u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003E\u201cThis is about strengthening the relationship between Emory\nand Georgia Tech, and it makes sense since we both attract outstanding, high-quality students,\u201d Smith said. He also noted that because Tech already provides\ntransportation to Emory with a shuttle every two hours, it makes sense for\nstudents enrolling in courses outside of Georgia Tech to do so at Emory.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003ECross-registration is open only to junior, senior and\ngraduate students. Students may only take\ncourses at Emory that are not offered at Tech during the specific term for\nwhich they\u2019re registering. \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.registrar.gatech.edu\/registration\/cross.php\u0022\u003EFull instructions for cross-registration\u003C\/a\u003E are\navailable from the \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/registrar.gatech.edu\u0022\u003EOffice of the Registrar\u003C\/a\u003E; Emory also makes its\ncross-registration rules available online.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003EStudents may choose from a variety of Emory courses on\ntopics such as global health, religion, photography or drama, and can peruse\n\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/college.emory.edu\/home\/academic\/course\/descriptions\/index.html\u0022\u003EEmory\u2019s course catalog online\u003C\/a\u003E.
