What key ingredients, other than luck, do you need to mix together to make a Biomedical Startup a delicious success? Lee Herron shares his chef&rsquo;s secrets on identifying what makes a company interesting to the <a href="https://gra.org/" target="_blank">Georgia Research Alliance</a>; who you need on your team, how to test your prototypes, and what to consider when seeking funding for your venture.<br />

Come learn from Herron&#39;s extensive experience with the Georgia Research Alliance and from work with successful biomedical startups from Georgia&#39;s elite research institutions. Have questions for Herron? Q &amp; A will follow the 30 minute lecture.<br />
<br />
<strong>About the Speaker</strong><br />
Herron serves as vice president of venture development for the Georgia Research Alliance. Previously, Lee managed the biosciences division of Georgia Tech&rsquo;s Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC), advising early stage life science companies. He has founded several bioscience companies including Biopool International, Inc., CytRx Corporation, and Theragenics Corporation.<br />
<br />
Today, Lee serves on the boards of Georgia BIO and Southeast Bio, and is a special advisor to the Executive Committee of Georgia&rsquo;s Bio/Med Investor Network. Lee serves on numerous advisory committees, and he was Chairman of the 2017 Georgia BIO Life Science Summit.<br />
<br />
Lee holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The University of Georgia. He also studied experimental pathology at Emory University.<br />

<strong>About the GLUE Lecture Series</strong><br />
General Lectures Uniting Everyone (GLUE) is the Atlanta Center for Microsystems Engineered Point-of-care Technologies (ACME POCT) flagship event series and serves as our primary venue to educate on the entrepreneurial pathway and product lifecycle. It provides a forum to pitch clinical problems and teach about the technologies most promising for meeting these clinical needs.</p>
