In 2019, the offices of Title IX and ADA were re-organized into one office, Equity and Compliance Programs, and moved under the umbrella of Institute Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Equity and Compliance Programs’ goal is to ensure non-discriminatory behaviors on the basis of sex, gender identity, and disability on Georgia Tech’s campus.
When Alexis Martinez, executive director of Equity and Compliance Programs arrived at Tech in summer 2021, she expressed a desire for more transparency between her office and the campus community. To support that commitment, Equity and Compliance Programs released an inaugural annual report highlighting the work the office has done in the past year.
“It’s a delicate balance,” Martinez explained. “The nature of our work is extremely sensitive, and there are many factors that prevent us from sharing full details of cases with the community. We hope that the information provided in this first annual report will contribute to the important dialogue about prevention practices, our responsibilities to each other, and building a community that is equitable and inclusive of all Yellow Jackets.”
In addition to the annual report, the office is teaming up with the Georgia Tech Library, Office of the President, and the Office of General Counsel to continue the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Title IX.
