Koros has been selected as the 2011 Institute Lecturer by the National Program Committee of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).

Each year, an AIChE member is invited by the Executive Board of the National Program Committee to present a comprehensive, authoritative review of the chemical engineering science in his or her field of specialization.  This presentation is known as the Institute Lecture, and it is the most prestigious award given by the National Program Committee.  

 “This is a terrific honor for Bill,” said Ronald W. Rousseau, Cecil J. "Pete" Silas Chair and Chair of the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Georgia Tech.

Koros is the GRA Eminent Scholar in Membranes and the Roberto C. Goizueta Chair for Excellence in Chemical Engineering in Georgia Tech’s School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Georgia Tech. 

Koros and his research group pursue fundamental and applied research to the burgeoning area of membrane-gas separation. Koros focuses on the creation of membrane, sorbent and barrier materials; characterization and application of membrane, sorbent and barrier structures; and penetrant history and temperature-dependent phenomena.

Koros received his bachelor's degree in in 1969 and his Ph.D. in 1977 from the University of Texas at Austin.
