{"663244":{"#nid":"663244","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Getting Ready for Registration: Removing a Financial Responsibility Hold","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EAs each new semester begins, some students may find themselves reaching out to the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/bursar.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003EOffice of the Bursar\u003C\/a\u003E in order to remove holds from their accounts.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EA hold is meant to draw attention to an aspect of a student account that needs to be addressed. Once the demand of the hold is addressed, it is released by the appropriate department.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Financial Responsibility Agreement hold tends to be the most discussed account hold. It was put in place to ensure that students understand their financial obligations to the University System of Georgia upon registering for courses. (A detailed description can be found \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.usg.edu\/business_procedures_manual\/section10\/C1390\/#p10.1.1_student_receivables\u0022\u003Ehere\u003C\/a\u003E.)\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe process of clearing a \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/bursar.gatech.edu\/fin_resp\u0022\u003EFinancial Responsibility Agreement\u003C\/a\u003E hold is fairly straightforward and can be done by students themselves, without the need of the bursar\u0026rsquo;s office. In order to clear the hold, students should log in to \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/oscar.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003Eoscar.gatech.edu\u003C\/a\u003E, then access the registration menu on their account. Once on the registration menu page, locate the Financial Responsibility Agreement link. From there, read the agreement, enter your initials, and click \u0026ldquo;submit.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EOnce you have done this, your hold will be released, and you will be able to continue with the registration process.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;Our staff loves working with students and we are always available to help students find solutions to their issues,\u0026rdquo; said Robert Zuco, customer service manager for the Office of the Bursar.
