This notification came from Val\u00e9rie P\u00e9cresse,\nthe Minister of Higher Education and Research for France, last month.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003EFrench nationals, as well as nationals of foreign countries, can be\nreceived into the order for distinguished and meritorious service to French society.\nIt represents the second highest civilian award accorded by France. Berthelot\nand McLaughlin\u2019s awards were made on the advice of the Minister of Higher\nEducation and Research.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003EBerthelot is president of Georgia Tech-Lorraine and McLaughlin is vice\nprovost for international initiatives. Both recipients have played a\nsignificant role in establishing alliances between Georgia Tech and French\ngovernmental, industrial and academic entities.
