{"665334":{"#nid":"665334","#data":{"type":"news","title":"NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy now in effect","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EPlease note:\u003C\/strong\u003E To promote the sharing of scientific data, the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/sharing.nih.gov\/data-management-and-sharing-policy\u0022 title=\u0022https:\/\/sharing.nih.gov\/data-management-and-sharing-policy\u0022\u003ENational Institutes of Health Data Management and Sharing Policy\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;went into effect Jan. 25.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EProposals submitted to NIH after this date are expected to include a\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/sharing.nih.gov\/data-management-and-sharing-policy\/planning-and-budgeting-for-data-management-and-sharing\/writing-a-data-management-and-sharing-plan\u0022 title=\u0022https:\/\/sharing.nih.gov\/data-management-and-sharing-policy\/planning-and-budgeting-for-data-management-and-sharing\/writing-a-data-management-and-sharing-plan\u0022\u003EData Management and Sharing Plan\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;(DMSP). Plans should include information about the types of data to be managed and shared; related tools, software and\/or code; the standards that will be applied to the data (including metadata standards); timelines and other information regarding data preservation and long-term access; considerations for data distribution or reuse; and oversight of data management and sharing.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ENIH program staff will assess data management and sharing plans.\u0026nbsp;For assistance with developing a DMSP, see the NIH website linked above or the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/dmptool.org\/\u0022 title=\u0022https:\/\/dmptool.org\/\u0022\u003EDMPTool\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EEffective data management supports research integrity. NIH encourages consistency with the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.go-fair.org\/fair-principles\/\u0022 title=\u0022https:\/\/www.go-fair.org\/fair-principles\/\u0022\u003EFAIR data principles\u003C\/a\u003E, making data findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable.
