Ángel Cabrera is the 12th president of Georgia Tech. The first native of Spain to serve as president of an American university, Ángel studied electrical and computer engineering at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and came to Georgia Tech in 1990 as a Fulbright Scholar. While a graduate student at Tech, he met his wife, Beth, a fellow Yellow Jacket, and they each earned an M.S. and Ph.D. in psychology from the Institute.

Before returning to Georgia Tech as president, Ángel led IE Business School in Madrid, Thunderbird School of Global Management (now part of Arizona State University), and George Mason University in Virginia. He has been recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, Henry Crown Fellow by the Aspen Institute, and Great Immigrant by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. He has served on the boards of three public companies and the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. He currently serves on the boards of the National Geographic Society, Harvard College Visiting Committee, Atlanta Committee for Progress, Metro Atlanta Chamber, and Bankinter Innovation Foundation.

Ángel and Beth are the parents of Alex, a Georgia Tech alumnus and Ph.D. student at Carnegie Mellon, and Emilia, who recently graduated from Harvard University.
