Meanwhile, the Chinese government promotes digital economy collaboration through high-level engagement like the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to promote connectivity with other emerging markets. Despite the significant market interest and policy attention, grounded empirical analysis of Chinese tech firms\u0026rsquo; expansion in emerging Asian economies is still limited. In discussing China\u0026rsquo;s presence in the emerging Asian economies and in the Global South more broadly, the predominant narratives focus on the interests and actions of the Chinese state. Such state-centric perspectives, while important, can neglect the role of private firms and host country environments in shaping Chinese firms\u0026rsquo; expansion and business operations.
