In-person sessions will be held at the Georgia State College of Law, with some hybrid sessions offered.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u201cThe symposium offers an exciting lineup of academic panels as well as multiple opportunities to connect with a diverse network of researchers, educators, community organizations and industry partners interested in language learning and international education,\u201d said Juan Carlos Rodr\u00edguez, co-director of AGSC and an associate professor of Spanish at Georgia Tech. \u201cThis symposium aspires to become a national model for the promotion of future collaborations between STEM fields and the humanities\/social sciences disciplines in the context of global studies.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAtlanta Mayor Andre Dickens will welcome guests to the ATL is Global\u003Cem\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/em\u003Eevent April 13 at 4 p.m. and introduce the keynote speaker, Yehimi Cambr\u00f3n, an Atlanta artist and activist who will discuss the importance of supporting diverse perspectives in education and the arts, and the power of art to expose and address tough social and global issues.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe second day of\u0026nbsp;ATL is Global\u0026nbsp;will feature sessions on topics ranging from \u201cDepolarizing Democracy\u201d and \u201cCombating Climate Change and Environmental Injustice\u201d to \u201cThe Future of International Education\u201d and \u201cInternational Security and Peacebuilding.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe final day will offer a workshop designed for pre-K-12 teachers interested in integrating global skills and language learning across the curriculum. Sessions will cover a variety of topics including community building, advocacy, global skills and career education, and teacher self-care.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u201cATL is Global\u0026nbsp;is the culmination of the collaborative relationships and projects that have been undertaken with myriad partners over the last four years,\u201d said Anthony Lemieux, co-director of AGSC and a professor of communication at Georgia State. \u201cWe hope participants will be inspired by the power of collaboration that is evidenced during this event which will celebrate the global vitality of Atlanta.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAttendees of\u0026nbsp;ATL is Global\u0026nbsp;will also learn about four collaborative projects at a \u201cGlobal at Home\u201d showcase highlighting work by the Atlanta Global Research and Education Collaborative (AGREC), an alliance forged by the efforts of the AGSC.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn addition to Georgia State and Georgia Tech, the collaborative includes Spelman College, Emory University, Agnes Scott College, Kennesaw State University and many organizations and businesses. AGREC provides seed funds to collaborative teams to\u0026nbsp;research and address local problems that are being faced globally.
