The prestigious award recognizes the best paper published in \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/ieeexplore.ieee.org\/xpl\/RecentIssue.jsp?punumber=43\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EIEEE\u2019s Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems\u003C\/a\u003E (IEEE TCAD), the flagship journal of the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/ieee-ceda.org\/\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EIEEE Council on Electronic Design Automation\u003C\/a\u003E (CEDA).\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe research, led by recent Ph.D. Graduate Xiaochen Peng and ECE Professor\u202f\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/ece.gatech.edu\/directory\/shimeng-yu\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EShimeng Yu\u003C\/a\u003E, proposes an end-to-end benchmark framework to evaluate state-of-the-art compute-in-memory (CIM) accelerators. The work provides the design automation community a\u202f\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/github.com\/neurosim\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Efamily of open-sourced NeuroSim series\u003C\/a\u003E with tools to allow users to explore different hardware specifications and find the best design options for their research on CIM accelerators.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe paper\u2019s co-authors include Shanshi Huang,\u202fHongwu Jiang, and\u202fAnni Lu, who are all current or former Ph.D. students in Yu\u2019s \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/shimeng.ece.gatech.edu\/\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003ELaboratory for Emerging Devices and Circuits\u003C\/a\u003E research group.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe NeuroSim series has been recognized for its comprehensive capabilities and has attracted many users, including industry researchers from major companies such as Intel, TSMC, IBM, Samsung, and SK Hynix, as well as researchers from universities and academia worldwide. The project is primarily supported by the National Science Foundation and the Semiconductor Research Corporation.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe award will be presented at the Design Automation Conference (DAC), taking place from July 9-13 in San Francisco.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EEarlier this year, Peng, who currently works at TSMC Corporate Research (North America) as a principal engineer, received the 2023 Outstanding Dissertation Award from the\u202f\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.edaa.com\/\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EEuropean Design and Automation Association\u003C\/a\u003E\u202f(EDAA) for her NeuroSim series work.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn 2022, ECE Professor Sung Kyu Lim and his research team \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/ece.gatech.edu\/news\/2022\/07\/lim-and-team-win-2022-transactions-computer-aided-design-best-paper-award\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Ewon the Donald O.
