Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE), has been elected as a 2023 Fellow of the American Statistical Association (ASA).\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMei was chosen for his path-breaking research in sequential analysis and change-point detection, seminal contribution to streaming data analysis in machine learning and data science, and outstanding service to the profession.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe ASA will honor him at an awards ceremony on August 8, 2023, during the Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) in Toronto. Professor Mei\u0027s nomination was put forth by Roshan Joseph, the A. Russell Chandler III Chair and a professor in ISyE.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMei received his Ph.D. in Mathematics with a minor in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in 2003 and a B.S. in Mathematics from Peking University, China in 1996. He has also worked as a Post Doc in Biostatistics for two years in the renowned Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle before joining ISyE in January 2006.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EHis research endeavors primarily revolve around the development of practical (bio)statistical, machine learning, and data science theories and algorithms, for efficient real-time or online data-driven decision-making with applications to engineering, operation research, and biomedical and health sciences.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMei\u2019s honors include:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E2021 Star Research Achievement Award in the Virtual Critical Care Congress\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E2020 Best Paper Competition Award in the Quality, Statistics \u0026amp; Reliability (QSR) of INFORMS\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E2010 CAREER Award from National Science Foundation\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E2009 Abraham Wald Prize in Sequential Analysis\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E2008 Best Paper Award of the 11th International Conference on Information Fusion.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EHe is an Associate Editor of Technometrics, Statistica Sinica, Journal of Applied Statistics, and Sequential Analysis.
