Georgia Tech’s Undergraduate Economics Program Ranks Top 25 Among Public Universities Nationally, No. 1 Among GA Public Universities

U.S. News & World Report’s undergraduate economics program ranking, newly added this year, places Georgia Tech’s School of Economics program first among public universities in Georgia and top 25 among public universities nationally.

Across all public and private universities and colleges nationally, the School of Economics ranks No. 58 among undergraduate economics programs in the 2024 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings.

“We’ve known for some time that our School’s teaching and scholarship is outstanding, but it is gratifying to have that acknowledged with this new ranking,” says Laura Taylor, professor and chair of the School of Economics. “We’ve significantly expanded our faculty, created new minors and master’s programs, created many new courses such as ‘Machine Learning for Applied Economics’ that prepare our students to be very competitive in today’s workforce, and more than doubled the number of students in our economics major over the past seven years.”

The School’s bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. programs achieved federal STEM designation in 2019, reflecting the curriculum’s tech-centered approach to liberal arts education and emphasis on using mathematical models.

Economics is a high-demand academic program at Georgia Tech. The minor is a top-10 minor in enrollment out of more than 70 at Georgia Tech, and a top-five program in total number of minors awarded.
