670779news16986853661698685505<![CDATA[Georgia Tech Library Associate Dean featured on Good Morning America]]>Georgia Tech Library Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Outreach Dr. Aisha Johnson was recently featured on Good Morning America for her involvement in long time librarian Rodney Freeman's documentary "Are You a Librarian: The Untold Story of Black Librarians."
The film, which tells stories of Black librarians who say they experienced discrimination and continued their efforts to keep diverse books accessible, features Johnson recounting her personal experience with archival research, the production of minority librarians and archivists for cultural preservation, and redefining the scholar.
In 2020, Johnson was dubbed Distinguished Alumni of Florida State University’s iSchool, where she earned her masters and PhD. In 2021, the Association for the Study of African American Life and History recognized her work and impact with the Freedom Scholar Award.
