{"671896":{"#nid":"671896","#data":{"type":"news","title":" Georgia Tech HPC Community Joins the Global HPC Community","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003EThe International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage, and Analytics, or \u201cSupercomputing\u201d (SC) for short, was held in Denver from November 12-17 and hosted nearly 14,000 attendees.\u0026nbsp; SC is the premier event for advances in algorithms, applications, architectures and networks, clouds and distributed computing, data analytics and visualization, machine learning and HPC, programming systems, system software, and state of the practice in large-scale data storage, deployment and integration. Each year, SC provides a unique opportunity to meet leaders in the field of high-performance computing, including researchers at universities and government labs, and hardware vendors like Intel, AMD, NVIDIA, and Penguin Computing.\u0026nbsp;\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nThe theme for this year\u2019s event was \u201cI am HPC; Impact and Future Direction,\u201d focusing on the ways in which HPC impacts society as well as the community of researchers in HPC. An interdisciplinary cohort comprised of \u0026nbsp;Georgia Tech researchers from the Partnership for an Advanced Computing Environment, the Center for High-Performance Computing, the School of Computational Science and Engineering, the Center for Research into Novel Computing Hierarchies, the Institute for Data Engineering and Science, and the School of Computer Science at various levels of their career were in attendance to present technical talks, participate in workshops and promote HPC research at Georgia Tech with a booth in the exhibit hall.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nGeorgia Tech teams were well represented across the research themes, including presentations on; \u003C\/span\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/sc23.supercomputing.org\/proceedings\/tech_poster\/tech_poster_pages\/rpost187.html\u0022\u003E\u003Cspan\u003Elarge graph analytics\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E, \u003C\/span\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/sc23.supercomputing.org\/proceedings\/src_poster\/src_poster_pages\/spostg109.html\u0022\u003E\u003Cspan\u003Enew methods for high-performance data-intensive workloads\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E, \u003C\/span\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/sc23.supercomputing.org\/proceedings\/tech_paper\/tech_paper_pages\/pap464.html\u0022\u003E\u003Cspan\u003Echallenges presented by the exascale computing\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E,\u003C\/span\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E and \u003C\/span\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/sc23.supercomputing.org\/proceedings\/tech_paper\/tech_paper_pages\/pap552.html\u0022\u003E\u003Cspan\u003ELarge Language Models (LLMs) applications in codesign\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E.\u003C\/span\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E Jeffrey Young and Richard Vuduc were feature speakers in the tutorial \u201c\u003C\/span\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/sc23.conference-program.com\/presentation\/?id=tut141\u0026amp;sess=sess214\u0022\u003E\u003Cspan\u003ELeveraging SmartNICs for HPC Applications\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u201d that offered attendees an in-depth exploration of the state-of-the-art for SmartNICs and the emerging software ecosystems supporting them.
