{"67728":{"#nid":"67728","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Rolando Roca Receives IEEE MTT-S Scholarship","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003ERolando Roca received an IEEE \nMicrowave Theory and Techniques Society Undergraduate\/Pregraduate \nScholarship at the 2011 International Microwave Symposium, held June \n5-10 in Baltimore, Md. \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAn electrical engineering major in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Georgia Tech, Mr. Roca received this award for outstanding work on his project \u0022Smart Passive Wireless Gas Sensor Using Functionalized Carbon Nanotubes with Inkjet Printing Technology.\u0022 This project is the first real world demonstration of inkjet-printed low-cost wireless sensors on paper and plastics utilizing nanotechnology-based structures, namely carbon nanotubes. His work could potentially set the foundation for the first quality-of-life ubiquitous sensor networks that truly bridge nanotechnology, RF, and \u0022green electronics.\u0022 \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EMr. Roca is an ECE Opportunity Research Scholar program participant, and he is advised by Professor Emmanouil M.
