There were additional\nviolations in the men\u2019s basketball program related to rules stemming from a\nnonscholastic basketball tournament conducted on the Institute\u2019s campus, which\nthe public report further details.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003E\u201cGeorgia Tech is committed to the integrity of its athletics\nprogram, including full cooperation and support of the NCAA,\u201d said Georgia Tech\nPresident G. P. \u201cBud\u201d Peterson.\u0026nbsp;\u201cGiven the information we had at the time,\nI believe we took reasonable and appropriate steps to determine the proper\ncourse of action and acted in good faith. Looking back, there are things we could have done differently. Because\nof our unwavering commitment to NCAA compliance, we have already taken a number\nof steps to address perceived shortcomings, hopefully ensuring that our programs\nremain beyond reproach.\u201d\u0026nbsp; \u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003EAfter being\nnotified of the allegations in November 2009, Georgia Tech conducted its own\ninternal investigation, forming a committee made up of faculty, staff and\nexternal counsel that made recommendations based on available information and\nthe internal investigation findings.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003EAs a result of this\nexhaustive review process and because of Georgia Tech\u2019s steadfast commitment to\ncompliance, the Institute completely revamped and enhanced its athletic\ncompliance operation and staffing. Changes include a greater investment in\nexperienced staff, training and awareness among staff and student athletes. \u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003EPenalties include:\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EPublic reprimand and censure.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EFour years of probation from July 14, 2011,\nthrough July 13, 2015.
