This was Georgia Tech\u2019s 28th\u0026nbsp;year participating in the competition.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003EThe American Helicopter Society\u2019s\nannual competition requires undergraduate and graduate teams to design and\nsubmit proposals on a multi-mission vertical lift system that meets the\nrequirements three different missions: search and rescue, insertion and resupply.\nThe Georgia Tech teams competed with others from around the world.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Georgia Tech undergraduate team won\nfirst place in this year\u2019s competition with its rotorcraft Golden Retriever,\nwhile the graduate team placed second with its entry Odyssey. \u0026nbsp;Georgia Tech has obtained the first or second\nplace award 27 out of the 28 years that it has competed in the AHS Student Design\nCompetitions.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EDaniel P. Schrage, professor of aerospace engineering, is the\nfaculty mentor for both teams consisting of aerospace engineering majors. The\nmembers of the undergraduate team include Laura Armanios, Silvio Lopez, Natasha\nBarbely, Trevor Mohr, Andrew Carter, Michael Moyer, Dennis Garza, Kit Taylor\nand Gregg Hines.
