Charlie Crist has appointed alumnus Tim Jackson to serve on the Florida Energy and Climate Commission. Jackson is president and CEO of Orlando-based Glatting Jackson Kercher Anglin, Inc., and his support of the Georgia Tech College of Architecture includes serving on the Dean\u0027s Council. \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EJackson, whose nomination must be confirmed by the Florida Senate, would serve a three-year term, through Nov. 2011. The nine-member commission, created by state law in June, is tasked with implementing many of the provisions of the state\u0027s energy and climate-change law.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EJackson is a longtime advocate for resource responsibility and sustainability. As a licensed professional engineer and planner, Jackson has helped communities throughout Florida, as well as in other parts of the country, develop plans for sustainable and active transportation systems and livable communities. \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EJackson joined Orlando-based Glatting Jackson as a transportation planner and engineer in 1986. He holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and a Master of City Planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology, as well as a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from Florida State University.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EJackson is a current board member and past president of 1000 Friends of Florida, a non-profit organization that advocates for protection of natural areas, sensible development patterns and livable communities. Jackson also is co-chair of the Environmental Issues Committee for the American Society of Civil Engineers; serves on the Task Force on Context-Sensitive Solutions for the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials; and is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, the Congress for the New Urbanism, the Florida Engineering Society, and the American Planning Association.\u0026nbsp;Jackson was born and raised in Brandon, Fla.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E","summary":null,"format":"limited_html"}],"field_subtitle":[{"value":"Tim Jackson received degrees in civil engineering and city planning at Tech."}],"field_summary":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EFlorida Gov.
