{"69202":{"#nid":"69202","#data":{"type":"event","title":"M2M Standards Conference","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is playing a key\nrole in the forthcoming international meeting September 20-21, 2011, in\nAtlanta, of the Global Standards Collaboration Machine-to-Machine (M2M) Standardization\nTask force (GSC MSTF).\u0026nbsp; Hosted by the\nTelecommunications Industry Association (\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.tiaonline.org\/\u0022\u003ETIA\u003C\/a\u003E), the meeting theme is \u201cM2M\nStandards as Growth Enablers\u201d and will attract industry leaders from around the\nworld.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003ECreated last year in Beijing at the Global Standards\nCollaboration (GSC)-15, the GSC M2M Standardization Task Force was charged to\nfacilitate global coordination and harmonize M2M standardization by\ncoordinating with a wide range of M2M players. The goal of the September meeting\nis to map out activities and make recommendations for future and current\nstandardization priorities to \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.itu.int\/en\/ITU-T\/gsc\/Pages\/default.aspx\u0022\u003EGSC\u003C\/a\u003E, a forum for\nthe collaboration of the world\u2019s leading telecommunications standards\norganizations and the International Telecommunication Union (ITIU). \n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EM2M is defined as connecting two machines that are not\ntypically carried in a user\u2019s pocket\u2014such as a refrigerator, vending \nmachine or\noven\u2014where they can communicate across a network with little or no human\n intervention. \u201cFor\nexample, a vending machine can let a supply system know that it\u2019s out of\n product,\nwhich will then arrange for a delivery of more\u2014without human \ninvolvement,\u201d said\nRon Bohlander, associate director for Business Operations \u0026amp;\nCommercialization at GTRI\u2019s Information and Communications Laboratory\n(ICL).\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ESeptember 20 --\u003C\/strong\u003E GTRI Conference Center.
