{"69267":{"#nid":"69267","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Georgia Tech Students Among First Selected as NASA Space Technology Research Fellows","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003ENASA has selected the\ninaugural class of Space Technology Research Fellows, and seven out of the 81\nstudents are from the Georgia Institute of Technology.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003ECongratulations to Chris\nCoen from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Nicole\nBauer,\u0026nbsp; Matthew Bopp, Cole Kazemba, Demyan Lantukh, Mihir Pathak and Zach\nPutnam from the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering. \u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003EThe students will receive\ngraduate student fellowships from NASA\u0027s Office of the Chief Technologist to\npursue master\u0027s or doctoral degrees in relevant space technology disciplines at\ntheir respective institutions.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003EThis first class of Space\nTechnology Fellows is part of NASA\u0027s strategy to develop the technological\nfoundation for its future science and exploration missions. The program\u0027s goal\nis to provide the nation with a pipeline of highly skilled engineers and technologists\nto improve U.S. competitiveness.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0022These fellowships will\ndevelop America\u0027s technology leaders for tomorrow, leaders that will help us\nout-innovate, out-educate and out-build our competitors and maintain our\nleadership in space,\u0022 NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said.\n\u0022President Obama has said, \u0027America\u0027s competitiveness rests on the\nexcellence of our citizens in technical fields.\u0027 These grants are an investment\nin America\u0027s intellectual capital and our nation\u0027s future.\u0022 \u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003ENASA Space Technology\nFellows will perform innovative space technology research while building the\nskills necessary to become future technological leaders.
