An Atlas V rocket lofted the Juno spacecraft toward Jupiter from Space
Launch Complex-41 on August 5 at NASA Kennedy Space Center. The 4-ton Juno spacecraft will take five years to
reach Jupiter on a mission to study its structure and decipher its
history and that of other planets in the solar system. Watch video of the launch.
As a part of this mission, Paul G. Steffes, a professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech, and his team are investigating the properties and structure of the deep atmosphere of Jupiter.
