To spotlight the importance of these core values, in 1995 the Phillips Petroleum Foundation awarded a grant to the School of Chemical \u0026amp; Biomolecular Engineering to develop the ConocoPhillips\/C.J. \u201cPete\u201d Silas Program in Ethics and Leadership. Named in recognition of the outstanding professional achievements of Georgia Tech chemical engineering alumnus C.J. \u201cPete\u201d Silas, who retired from Phillips Petroleum as president and CEO in 1994, the program focuses on technical and business decisions that have ethical ramifications. These topics, and related areas in engineering, technology, and ethics, are integrated into the core chemical and biomolecular engineering curriculum and are addressed in an annual public symposium featuring prominent industrialists and ethicists.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EABOUT DR. FRYHOFER\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003ESandra Adamson Fryhofer, MD, MACP, FRCP, is a board certified doctor of internal medicine in Atlanta and a clinical associate professor of medicine at Emory University School of Medicine.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EDr. Fryhofer received her bachelor\u2019s degree in chemical engineering with high honors in 1979. While a student at Georgia Tech, she was crowned Miss Georgia and represented the state in the Miss America Pageant. She received her M.D. in 1983 from Emory University School of Medicine and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn recognition of her contributions to medical science, Dr. Fryhofer has been honored with the titles of Master of the American College of Physicians (MACP) and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP). She was the 2000-2001 president of the American College of Physicians (ACP), the nation\u2019s largest medical specialty society. During her tenure on the ACP Board of Regents, she chaired the committee on women\u2019s health and was an active member of the education committee. Dr. Fryhofer was the national spokesperson for the Doctors for Adults public education campaign. She is a member of the ACP Delegation to the American Medical Association (AMA) and serves on the AMA Council on Science and Public Health and the ACP Adult Immunization Advisory Board.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EFrom 2001 to 2005, Dr. Fryhofer was a medical correspondent for \u003Cem\u003ECNN Headline News\u003C\/em\u003E, reporting on medical issues on air and in her weekly CNN web column, \u201cVital Signs by Dr. Sandy.\u201d She has also appeared on other national television programs, including\u003Cem\u003E NBC\u2019s Today Show\u003C\/em\u003E, \u003Cem\u003ECNN Talk Back Live\u003C\/em\u003E, \u003Cem\u003ENBC Nightly News\u003C\/em\u003E, and \u003Cem\u003EABC World News Tonight\u003C\/em\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EDr. Fryhofer has served on committees and panels for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Institute of Medicine (IOM), and other organizations, where she addressed a variety of healthcare issues. In addition to serving on the \u003Cem\u003EWoman\u2019s Day Magazine\u003C\/em\u003E Health and Fitness Advisory Board since 1998, she wrote a weekly health blog for the \u003Cem\u003EWoman\u2019s Day\u003C\/em\u003E website in 2007 and 2008. Currently, her regularly appearing prevention column, \u201cStaying Well,\u201d and her video blog series, \u201cMedicine Matters,\u201d are featured on \u003Cem\u003EMedscape from WebMD\u003C\/em\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EDr. Fryhofer is married to George W.
