The level of active participation was significant and the input generated will help define the future of SEI and its role at Georgia Tech.  Your suggestions, comments and ideas will form a foundation upon which SEI will continue to build the premier Georgia Tech \u0022Global Energy Community.\u0022  Attached is a compilation of the commentary and suggestions made in each of the four breakout sessions for your review.  \n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EA few overarching themes emerged as a result of conversations during the panel session Q \u0026amp; A and the breakout discussions.  These include:\n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EGeneral Support for a Broad Vision\/Consensus\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n-          Building the Georgia Tech Energy Community (creating synergies)\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n-          Being an Honest Broker across broad constituencies and disciplines\n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003ESEI\/Energy Research as a Georgia Tech Priority\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n-          Energy should be one of the key research clusters at Georgia Tech\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n-          Support should Include Bottom-up and Top-down strategies \n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EGlobal Energy Interactions\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n-     Link energy research agenda with GIT international campuses and activities         \n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003ESEI as a Facilitator of Resources\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n-          Need ongoing, more focused versions of retreat to propel research efforts\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n-          Engagement via Consortia with Industry and other Partners\n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003ECommunication\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n-          Internal and External mechanisms needed to promote Georgia Tech Energy Research\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n-          Annual Workshops, Coordinate and\/or link Seminars under SEI Umbrella\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n-          Newsletter, Website, Other Avenues to Increase Visibility for Energy Activities\n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003ENeed for Political Engagement\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n            -     Broaden and expand links with federal and state relations and development components of GTI      \n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003ENeed for Student Engagement\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n-          Immediate\n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003ESeveral action items will be pursued as a result of the retreat:\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u2022 Formulate a draft Strategic Plan for SEI that will be circulated for comment.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u2022 Initiate a series of \u0027mini-workshops\u0027 in broad technical areas in order to nucleate faculty interest groups.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u2022 Develop mechanisms for active student engagement.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u2022 Initiate planning for next GIT Energy Symposium.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u2022 Develop support for a communications support position.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EOnce again, thank you for your participation.\n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003ESincerely, \n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003ERoger Webb\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nInterim Director\u003C\/p\u003E","summary":null,"format":"limited_html"}],"field_subtitle":"","field_summary":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EDear Colleagues,\n \nThank you for your participation at the Strategic Energy Institute Retreat.
