Would you like to design assignments that help students learn to think creatively?

This workshop will highlight assignments that promote the development of the core concepts of divergent thinking: fluency (generating lots of ideas), cognitive flexibility (shifting perspectives for different kinds of ideas) and originality (proposing novel ideas). Whether students are in the sciences (where creative thinking is necessary for exploring hypotheses, setting up experiments, and discovering patterns), in engineering and architecture (where creative thinking is a critical component of design), or management and the liberal arts (where creative thinking is essential to contributing and competing in the global economy), the 21st century learner needs opportunities to develop creative thinking skills across the disciplines.

The presenter of this workshop is Dr. Kathleen Kegley, who holds a Ph.D. in computer engineering with an emphasis in artificial intelligence, an M.S. in computer science, an M.S. in plant and environmental science, and a B.S. in chemistry. She is adjunct faculty in the School of Business at Clemson University where she teachers the MBA course, Creativity and Innovation in Business, and conducts research in creative thinking.
