Callaway Jr.\nManufacturing Research Center on Oct. 6.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003EGeorgia Tech\u2019s Manufacturing\nResearch Center (MaRC) is one of the nation\u2019s foremost multidisciplinary\neducational facilities focusing on developing next-generation manufacturing\ntechnologies.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003E\u201cWe are No. 1 in\nmanufacturing because this is where companies get things done,\u201d said Steven\nDanyluk, professor and Morris M. Bryan Jr. Chair in Mechanical Engineering for\nAdvanced Manufacturing System and former director of MaRC. \u201cI believe the\nManufacturing Research Center is the bedrock of where that reputation comes\nfrom.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003EThe 120,000-square-foot\nbuilding in the northwest section of campus contains state-of-the-art labs that\nsupport research, education and technological initiatives. It serves as an\nincubator for educational advancement and manufacturing research.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003E\u201cThe mission of the center is\nto translate our technology into real manufacturing expertise that could be\nused to create jobs and wealth in the state,\u201d Danyluk said.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003ESince 1992, MaRC has been\nnationally recognized for its Manufacturing Education Program that has touched\nthousands of Georgia Tech graduates.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003EThroughout the years, MaRC\nhas also hosted a number of major research initiatives, some of which resulted\nin start-up companies such as viaCycle, Radatec, QCept, CaMotion and others.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003E\u201cTogether, these two aspects\nof MaRC have been a significant contributing factor to Georgia Tech\u2019s No. 1\nranking in \u2018manufacturing and industrial engineering\u2019 by U.S. News \u0026amp; World\nReport,\u201d said Leon McGinnis, Eugene C. Gwaltney Chair in Manufacturing Systems\nand associate director of MaRC. \u201cWe are justifiably proud of our\naccomplishments and contributions in education and research.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAs the center celebrates its\n20th anniversary, it is honing its focus on new and innovative discoveries and areas\nof critical need.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cMy hope is \u2026 that Georgia\nTech will lead the way as we move towards a renaissance of advanced\nmanufacturing in the U.S. and around world,\u201d said Ben Wang, incoming executive\ndirector of MaRC.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EWang will be introduced to\nthe campus community at the ceremony and will assume the executive director\nrole on Jan. 1. Wang will follow in the footsteps of Danyluk, who served as the\ncenter\u2019s director from 1994 to 2010.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003EThe MaRC anniversary\ncelebration will be held at 1 p.m. on the lawn between the MaRC and the J. Eriskine Love\nManufacturing buildings.
