{"71633":{"#nid":"71633","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Graduate Students Compete in Chemistry Poster Session for Cash Prizes","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EChemistry,\nas a scientific discipline, makes vast contributions to sustainability and the\nwell-being of human kind.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003EIn\nhonor of the International Year of Chemistry, the Georgia Tech Library will\ngive 10 graduate students the opportunity to present chemistry as a ubiquitous\nelement of research in a juried poster session Thursday, Oct. 27. \u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E\u201cChemistry Woven Through Our Lives: Celebrating\nthe International Year of Chemistry\u201d\u003C\/strong\u003E\nis the first poster session of the \u003Cstrong\u003EBlended\nResearch @The Library series\u003C\/strong\u003E. \u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003E\u201cThis series provides a forum for interaction\nbetween researchers from different disciplines who may be doing research in\ncomplementary areas,\u201d said Lori Critz, head of the Library\u2019s Faculty Engagement\nDepartment.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003EThe\nposter session will take place Thursday, October 27 in the Library on the 2\u003Csup\u003End\u003C\/sup\u003E\nFloor West. Judging begins at 11 a.m. Winners will be announced at\napproximately 12:30 p.m. Posters will be available for public viewing from 11\na.m. \u2013 1 p.m. \u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003EThe\nposter session is sponsored by the American Chemical Society, Institute of\nPhysics, Knovel, CRC Press, and MathWorks. The year 2011 was officially\nestablished as the International Year of Chemistry (IYC 2011) in December 2008\nat the 63\u003Csup\u003Erd\u003C\/sup\u003E General Assembly of the United Nations. \u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003EGeorgia\nTech joins chemical societies, academics, and institutions across the globe in\nthis worldwide celebration of the achievements of chemistry.
