About Robert Braun

Braun has just returned to campus following nearly two years of service in Washington, D.C., as NASA's chief technologist. Braun served as the senior executive for technology and innovation policy and programs. His efforts spanned technical, budgetary and policy aspects of NASA’s science, aeronautics and exploration missions.  

Braun has more than twenty-five years experience in the fields of aerospace engineering, systems engineering and design optimization. His research has focused on systems' aspects of planetary exploration, where he contributed to the design, development, test and operation of several robotic space flight systems.

At Georgia Tech, he serves as Director of the Space Systems Design Laboratory where he leads an active research and educational program focused on the design of advanced flight systems and technologies for planetary exploration.
