{"73082":{"#nid":"73082","#data":{"type":"event","title":"Communication Colloquium: Research into Teaching","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe Writing \u0026amp; Communication Program invites you to an encore \nperformance of its first Communication Colloquium this semester, \nfeaturing lectures by Dr. Michelle Gibbons and Dr. Malavika Shetty.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EPresentation Title: \u201cThe Speech Exemplar in the Multimodal Classroom\u201d\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThis\n presentation will discuss strategies for incorporating speeches from \nthis year\u2019s Freshman Reading Project selection, _I Have a Dream: \nWritings and Speeches that Changed the World_, into Engl1101 and 1102 \ncourses.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EMichelle Gibbons received received her PhD from the \nUniversity of Pittsburgh in 2010. \u0026nbsp;Her research interests include \nrhetorical theory and criticism.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EPresentation Title: \u201cThe Impact \nof Orality: Using the Personal Essay to Explore and Develop Oral \nLanguage Skills in the Classroom\u201d\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThis lecture will examine how the \npersonal \u201cThis I Believe\u201d essay can be used as a means to develop and \nappreciate oral language skills.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EMalavika Shetty received her PhD\n in Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin.
