Clough Commons Crawls With Student Art Feb. 10

Math and science are not the only disciplines
that Georgia Tech students excel at, and to prove it, the first annual Clough
Commons Art Crawl will exhibit student artwork on February 10 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m
in the G. Wayne Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons.

Sponsored by the Georgia Tech Library, Office of Undergraduate
Studies, The Communication Center, the Office of Information Technology, and Erato, the Clough Commons Art Crawl
promises to serve as both a creative outlet for study-stressed students and an
evening of fun for the whole campus. Refreshments will be provided.

“Being an engineer or
scientist or mathematician doesn't exclude students from being artistic. Having
opportunities for creative expression is an essential part of being, well,
human,” said Julia Turner, co-editor of Erato.

Turner believes art is
vital to stress-relief and maintaining a healthy work-life balance in a
rigorous, academic environment such as Georgia Tech.

“An event like the Art
Crawl provides these opportunities, as well as a venue in which students can
share their work with their peers,” Turner added.

The Crawl is open to
all Georgia Tech students, regardless of classification or major. Paintings,
drawings, sculpture, photography, music, poetry and prose, and performance art
are all eligible mediums for exhibition in this event.

“The building has a lot
of open space, which makes it feel somewhat like an art gallery already, but at
the same time, there are rooms and partitions that will allow differentiation
in the types of art presented,” said Turner.

The Clough Commons Art Crawl takes place February
10 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. and is open to the general public. To submit artwork to
the Clough Commons Art Crawl, visit http://art.clough.gatech.edu/.
The deadline to submit is February 3.
