The Outstanding Achievement in Research Program Development is awarded to the faculty member who made the most outstanding contributions to research program development for those programs receiving sponsored funding from January 1, 2006, to December 31, 2008, taking into account the potential for enhancing Georgia Tech's long-term scholarly reputation. Prof. Marder has been with Georgia Tech since 2003.

All faculty with instructional and research titles are eligible to be nominated for the Faculty Research Awards, but can only be nominated for one award each year. Faculty are eligible for another award in any category three years after receiving the award. Each faculty award is for $5,000; $1,000 is for the recipient's personal use and $4,000 for the support of his/her research.

Awards were presented and recognized at the Faculty/Staff Honors Luncheon in April.
